Conditions:
The CPU spikes are caused by an auto configuration save feature when the
telephony-service is enabled. The autosave cannot happen if a previous auto
save occurred less than 10 minutes
ago. A few of the triggers are:
1.The "auto assign" DN feature for phones are turned on and new phones are
plugged in.
2.Call forwarding is being used as seen with the 'Cfwdall' portion of the
configs.
3.Configuration changes are made using a web page or gui.
Workaround:
The only known workaround is to:
1) Configure 'exec-timeout 0 0' on the VTY/Console
2) Connect to the console, go into enable mode and then disconnect the
cable. If telnet is used, a device will have to remain connected to
prevent auto saves.
This works because there is a mechanism to prevent saving the configs
multiple times at the same time. It is also good to know that that if the
device is reloaded, you will have to connect to the console again.
