3825 FXO Port remains in off-hook after call

Hello,

I have a 3825 router with 8 FXO ports running Cisco IOS Software, 3800 Software (C3825-SPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2). The problem we are facing is that after a call is placed through any of the FXO ports and the call is ended by the user, the port remains in off-hook till a reset of the port is done or someone restarts the router. Only then is the port accessible again.

I am thinking of changing the cards, but i do not want to invest in replacing the cards and then find out that this doesnt solve the problem.

The wierd thing is that this issue started on its own accord not too long ago.

Comments and suggestions please!

Regards,

Femi

Is the call going to a phone, and which system and version are you using?

3825 FXO Port remains in off-hook after call

Hi Paolo,

I'm using a 3825 ISR running Cisco IOS Software, 3800 Software (C3825-SPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2) and CallManager 7.1.

The call is an external call outside the office environment through the PSTN lines (FXO ports).

Femi

3825 FXO Port remains in off-hook after call

If going to an IP phone, when the IP phone hangs up, the FXO must go on-hook again.

The issue should happen when you have Autoattendant, or call-forward to an external number. Do you use any of that ?

3825 FXO Port remains in off-hook after call

Hi Paolo,

The setup is such that a user picks up their IP phone and attempt to make a phone call to someone's mobile number for instance. After the call was successfully established and the conversation is over, both parties disconnect the call. The problem is that after the call has been disconnected by both parties, and you try and access the same line to use, you get a busy tone. Checking on the status of the card shows that the port is in off hook position.

We do have an autoattendant configured, which pretty much handles incoming calls. As for call forward, this is not configured anywhere on the system.

By your description, the only possible explaination is that either CM doesn't send call teardown message, or router fails to execute it. There are debugs you could take, but I recommend that before that, you update IOS and try again.

Try this command in the voice port FXO

voice-port 0/1/1

timeouts call-disconnect 3

"Call Disconnect Timeout after Destination Hangs Up in seconds"

or reboot before change the VIC

3825 FXO Port remains in off-hook after call

Hello,

I do not want to change the FXO card till I am sure that is the problem and I did state that I always have to reboot the router when the problem starts. Rebooting clears the problem but it is back immediately I attempt a call again and hang up that call.

I have timeouts call-disconnect already configured, see below:

3825 FXO Port remains in off-hook after call

Hi

please try to use "cptone " under voice-port < >  , also you can create custom

custom-cptone voice class and you can call this cptone to voice-port below is example

Under global config

#voice class custom-cptone mytone

dualtone busy

  frequency 425 425

  cadence 500 500

dualtone ringback

  frequency 425 425

  cadence 1000 4000

dualtone reorder

  frequency 425 425

  cadence 250 250

dualtone out-of-service

  frequency 425 425

  cadence 320 320

note that all frequency and cadence must meet your pstn provider standards

then call this custom-cptone to all voice-port

#voice-port 0/0/0

supervisory custom-cptone mytone

try this
