can I get 3rd party power adaptor for the cisco ip phone 69XX series.
or should I just get the one from cisco (IP phone transformer fro 7900 series)?

You should use the power adapter listed in the 6900 series datasheet:
Power adapter (CP-PWR-CUBE-3=) along with one of the power cords listed in Table 4 of below link

You could use a third party PSU for your phones. Just don't blame us or Cisco if it borks your phone
