6941 and deep sleep option

Much of the marketing hype around these new phones sets is the option of a 50% power reduction when the phone goes into sleep mode.  So, the question is what does it take to put these phones into sleep mode?  CUCM does not have any options - only for the backlight.  Does the network need to be Energywise enabled?  I can't find any docs on the actual configuration only marketing brochures.

Thanks,

Jeremy.

We configured CUCM to put our Cisco VoIP phones to "sleep" daily from 7pm `til 7:30 am and all weekends.  If you don't have this feature set you can enable EnergyWise.

What version of CUCM are you using and where are you making those settings?  Thanks.

This feature is available since 6.X.

Update - from Cisco TAC, this option will not be available until 9.1.1 of the 6941 phone firmware -

no ETA yet.  Energywise will also be required on all the access switches that connect to these IP phones.

Hi JL??,

Thanks so much for posting back with your findings here

+5 points for this very kind follow-up.

Cheers!

Rob

Is this true for the 9951 phones as well?

Yes, our Cisco account team stated that with all the new types of phones - also requires Energywise to be deployed within the network (requires a newer switch IOS and a mgmt application as well as config changes to the supporting IPT switches, routers...).
