7940G Not Ringing after Period of Inactivity

I have a Cisco 7940G phone that is SIP configured. I have noticed that after a period of inactivity (making or receiving calls) if some calls the phone won’t ring. However if I just recently used the phone (made a call) and someone calls it will ring just fine. Is there some kind of idle setting I’m missing? Is this a known issue? Might it be something to do with how my phone is connected to the network and possibly a port issue??

Hi Hunter,

From your problem description, i understand that when you make calls to 7940G, it sometimes ring and sometimes not.

Correct me if i am wrong.

Could you please provide the following information.?

1.Are we facing this issue for internal calls.?

2.Are we facing this issue for only 1 7940G phone or for all 7940G phones.

3.When you make a all to 7940G phone, if it does not ring, try to pick up the receiver to check if the call gets connected or not.

4.If the call gets connected, it could be a progress indicator issue and we might have to collect the debugs to confirm the issue.
