I created the speeddial.xml file per the sys admin guide, loaded it up on our test lab and all looked fine.
Select the hard "directories" button and display reads:
--local speed dial
--personal speed dial
Select local speed dial and all entries show. So I uploaded the same file to a remote site production router which (to the best of my knowledge) is configured the same as my lab. But the user states that she only gets the first three options --missed calls, --recieved calls, and --local directory.
I've checked and compared everything I can think of.

Indeed, the various phone images have bugs and for the 7912 problem, that was the only thing that fixed the issue. I use 8.x versions without issues.
But a problem that I have with _all_ the images on 7911/41/61, is that external placed calls always show as 'unknown' in the directory.
I think the cisco 'recommendation' on the 7.x firmware is not really a mandatory one, given that 8.x images are listen in the compatibility table, and in the CME download area is now released a file that contains all 8.x firmware for the ephones.
The short answer is that you don't.... That isn't entirely true while at
the same time it kind of is, but for the most part you don't configure
the softkeys. You enable or disable them via TCL. Here is the long
answer. Be sure to read the whole thing or e...
