7962 IP Phone In-use Monitoring

Hi,

I have three Cisco 7962 IP Phones. Is it possible to determine if the phone in use (on-going call) via SNMP MIB query or SIP message? I want to integrate the phones with an in-house monitoring system. I need a method that can be executed from remote, like sending a request or retrieving information via SNMP, SIP, etc. The method should be communicated directly to the phone.

Any help is greatly appreaciated.

Thanks,

sho

Re: 7962 IP Phone In-use Monitoring

Hi,

You probably want to be looking at Presence to monitor phone status.

Using just CUCM you can configure Busy Lamp Field (BLF) monitoring which allows you to see from a phone handset whether a phone is off-hook using a speed dial or within Corporate Directory.

If you want to integrate Presence into applications you will need to deploy a CUPS server.

Thanks for your response.

Instead of CUPS, can I use Jabberd or any Open Source Presence servers? Has anyone tried this?
