7965 Handset failure

Hello,

I have two 7965 phones with plantronics CS70N headsets connected.  These headsets have the optional handset lifter.  Between the two of these phones I have had to replace three handset's all with the same problem, the microphone in the handset quits working.  I have taken these handsets and put them on different phones and they are in fact dead.  The speaker still works, but not the mic.

Has anyone come across this problem?

Thanks,

Dan.

7965 Handset failure

Hi Dan,

We did have that happen to one 7965 handset that was using the HL10 lifter but I'm not

sure if there was any correlation between the failure and the lifter. We soon switched

to using the HHC (Headset Hookswitch Control) with Cordless Headsets  (Plantronics CS50,70 55 etc.)

where the user will be able to answer calls from  the Headset itself without the use of a Handset Lifter.

We use quite a few of these setups and they are really awesome and far cleaner.

It's funny...but if you take the handset that you removed and beat the "mic" end on a solid

surface for a while it loosens up the carbons and they tend to work again

For Plantronics;

With the use  of an Adaptor Part # APC-4 (called the HHC Adaptor) which plugs into  the Aux Port on the base of the phone allows calls to be answered and  disconnected via the Headset without the use of the Lifter

HHC adapter  (APC-4) Product Information

Cheers!

7965 Handset failure

Rob,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I do have one set with the APC-4 and the extension because it has a 7916.  So far that system is working just fine, no problems with the handset.  I guess I will have to switch the other ones over and remove the handset lifter.

Dan.
