8961 SIP Phones not registering failover to subscriber

Hi,

I have an IP Telephony setup with CUCM Publisher version 9.1 running on UCS M3 BE server and subscriber with the same version running another UCS server.

DHCP server configured on Windows machine and I configured both primary option 150 as PUB and secondary option 150 as SUB.

The default Call Manager Group having publisher upper than the subscriber.

When I Restart the publisher all the SCCP phones (6945) registerd to the subscriber but 8961 Ip Phones do not.

It registered after the publisher came up.

in 8961 phone I got the staus message like :

DNS unknown host SCMIPBX02  (SCMIPBXO2 is theSubsciber host name)

DNS unknown host FCMPBX01  (FCMPBX01 is the Publisher host name)

VPN Error : VPN is not configured.

SEP02929E24E23 cnf.xml.sgn (HTTP)

and keep going on.....

When publisher restart all the SIP Phones staus in the Call manager(Subscriber) I can see that UNKNOWN.

What may be the reason. Please guide...

Thanks in advance....

Nithin Louis.

Based on that error message it appears that the phone cannot get a DNS resolution for the node.

Does the DHCP lease include DNS servers?

Is the phone getting a DNS domain suffix in it's DHCP lease?

Does a Wireshark from the phone show DNS resolution working? If yes, what does the phone send to the subscriber? Wireshark can read SIP traffic nicely.
