Abbreviated Dialing on CUCM 10.0.1.1 not working on 78xx phones
Trying to get Abbreviated Dialing working on a customer's CUCM 10.0.1 deployment with 78xx IP phones (sip78xx.10-1-1es5 firmware). Changed Softkey Template so Abbreviated Dialing shows up when phone is off hook. Populated some fields in the phone's speed dial. The speed dials on the phone itself (pressing the down navigation button) works fine.
However, when I go off-hook, press the "SpeedDial" softkey (even though it says "AbbrDial" in the Softkey Template), I just hear 2 beeps and choosing a speed dial via the keypad on the phone does nothing.
I tried this on an IP Communicator phone on my PC (v7.xxx) and the softkey shows up as "????" when I go offhook.
Is there a known issue with CUCM 10.0.1 with this feature? I can't find anything searching.

the same time it kind of is, but for the most part you don't configure
the softkeys. You enable or disable them via TCL. Here is the long
answer. Be sure to read the whole thing or e...
