Yes, if you look after a well installed 3.3 solution it still runs to this day but luckily it's is going to be upgraded soon. I eventually got the services talking after I restarted every TCD service in the cluster and checking the log output. It seemed that with the Publisher replacement it had to reestablish the links between the servers even though a backup was restored on it.
