Accessing voice mail from outside the office

When our users call in to check voice mail they need to hit the * key when the prerecorded message starts. Then they are prompted for their acct # and password. In some cases when the * key is pressed they are directly routed to our receptionist. I can't replicate the issue from any phone I call in on. I suspect at this point that this is a setting somewhere on their acct that I have yet to find! Anyone out there with some idea? I would appreciate hearing from you!

Can they reach their voice mail from the inside just fine?

Have you had those users do the same thing in front of you to make sure they're not fat-fingering the * and pressing 0 instead?

The only thing I can think of is that the tone isn't getting sent from their phone properly, but I'm more inclined to go with the fat-finger option instead having dealt with similar issues myself.
