Adding a new subscriber to an existing cluster

Hi all,

I am adding a new subscriber server to an existing cluster (1 x Pub & 2x Subs), however, the installation disk I have been sent is of a lower version to the version that is currently running on the cluster. The cluster is running on (Ver 7.1.2) & I have an installation disk with (Ver 6.1). I have never done this before & I have concerns with what affect this could have on the operational servers, as such, I would appreciate any advice or steps I should take to get the server upgraded to (Ver 7.1.2) & operational on the cluster.

Thanks

Re: Adding a new subscriber to an existing cluster

You have to use the exact same version to add a server to the cluster.  Otherwise, database replicaiton might be broken.  And it is not supported by Cisco.

Re: Adding a new subscriber to an existing cluster

Thanks Michael,

My issue is more with getting the versions to the same level. I'm assuming that during the installation the new sub will need to talk to the pub but my installation disk is ver 6.1. Will I be able to upgrade directly from 6.1 to 7.1.2?

Thanks

Most likely not.  You should be able or as Cisco calls it have "entitlement" to order the proper media as an upgrade kit and have it sent to you.

Re: Adding a new subscriber to an existing cluster

Thanks Hailey/Michael for your reply,

So there is no issue with me going through with putting the ver 6.1 server on the network & going through with the install. I should have mentioned that this server is an old sub currently running an old ver 4.13 on it hence the 6.1 installation.

Thanks

I see.  You'll have to check if that's a supported upgrade: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/cucos/7_1_2/cucos/iptpch7.html
