* and then a 4 digit extension call manager will forward me to the users voicemail. This does not work work wth 5 digit ext

so some of our users have brought it to my attention that when they dial the voicemail shortcut *4443 it will work and transfer with no issue but if they do *58326 it says "I did not recognize that as a valid entry" then forwards out to the automated system.

Any ideas or help would be apprishated.

You most likely have a CTI

You most likely have a CTI Route Point that is *XXXX that matches a * and 4 digits.  The reason digits does work is your would need a CTI route Point that is *XXXXX that  would send to 5 digits voice mail.
