Announcement Line on Unity

All,

I need to configure an anouncement line.  Users will call in, hear the greeting and then get disconnected.  No ability to leave a message.  The greeting needs to be able to be updated by someone calling the same number, pressing # and being able to re-record the greeting.  Is this best accomplished by a Call Handler or a user with a voice mailbox?

Thanks in advance.  All replies rated.

Hi Scott,

This can be accomplished using either a standard mailbox or

Call Handler using the after greeting Action (goodbye or hangup)

but it will be easier to re-record greetings using a mailbox.

If you want to save a license and use a Call Handler you get

into the whole greeting administrator & call handler owner

set up

Either way you slice it, the user will need to use a PIN to re-record

the greetings, which is really a good thing as you don't want some random person

doing this either maliciously or by accident!

Cheers!

As Rob said, you can go either way.  Personally, I would use a Call Handler and set the after greeting action to "Hang Up". You would need to set the caller input for # to go to the Greetings Administrator.  If there are multiple users that need to change the greeting and this is legacy Unity, then you can use a Distribution List with all of the users in it as the "Owner". In Unity Connection, you need to set each individual user with the Greetings Administrator role on their mailbox.
