Any way to default password protected MGCP 7940?

A customer purchased a used 7940 that has a MGCP firmware load, and is also password protected. Needs to use it in a UC500 system with SCCP.

The phone doesn't respond to the normal sequence for defaulting a password protected 7940 (hold down the # key, etc.) and continues to try to boot up.

Is there any other way to get this phone to a factory default?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Maybe you could try method #2 below;

To reset the phone do the following:

Note that the phone must be on a network providing an IP address and TFTP server

address using DHCP and the phone must be powered via external power brick. The

Alternate TFTP setting is erased when using this procedure requiring that the

TFTP server address be provided by a DHCP server to get the phone upgraded.

1) Power off the phone

2) Hold down the '#'.

3) While holding '#', connect an AC adaptor to the phone.

4) Continue to hold '#' until the line buttons blink amber.

5) Release the '#' key.

6) Enter: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 * 0 #

7) The lights should change color from amber to red. The phone is now resetting

to factory defaults.

If the above does not work, try the following:

1) Power off the phone

2) Hold down the '#'.

3) While holding '#', connect an AC adaptor to the phone.

4) Continue to hold '#' until the line buttons blink amber.

5) Release the '#' key.

6) Enter: 3 4 9 1 6 7 2 8 5 0 * #

7) The lights should change color from amber to red. The phone is now resetting

to factory defaults

Hope this helps!

Rob

Thanks Rob,

I tried both suggestions with an AC adaptor but the phone still doesn't repond to holding down the # key. It just keeps going, and trying to boot.
