Attendant Console Question

I'm not very familiar with Attendant Console but I received a question from a user and I need to determine the best approach to solving this user's issue.  There's an extension which is shared by two users working different shifts.  The alerting name and line label fields are populated with generic information (not specific to the two users).  This is causing confusion for the person manning the attendant console.  She would like both shift workers to appear in AC, under the same extension, using their real names.  My initial thought was to create two ext. mobility profiles and just have each shift login to the phone using ext. mobility.  However, it all depends on how AC populates the directory.  Does it retrieve the identity of the user attached to a phone from the "Alerting Name" field of the DN?  Or does it retrieve it from some other field on the phone or from somewhere else within CUCM?

TIA

Steven

I assume you mean the built-in AC application (that's my disclaimer).  If you're not this may not apply.

The AC gets directory data by searching the following files for the user list, as indicated in the  following order:

- Specified user list file on the  attendant console

- CorporateDirectory.txt file under the  User List Directory on the server

- Automatically generated user list file  on the server

David,

Thanks for the input.  I have some follow-up questions.

For "Specified user list file on the attendant console", what the file format?  Is there any documentation on how to construct the file?  And where does it go?

For "CorporateDirectory.txt file under the User List Directory on the server", do you mean the CUCM server?

Thanks,

Steven

The User List file is a CSV file.  You can specify this file (or others) in the AC settings on the user PC.  Instructions are here:  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucmac/1_2_1/english/administration/guide/ccmac121.html#wp1023100.  Table 5 highlights the configuration parameters and what they are.

To really knock out some of your questions on the directory files go to this FAQ: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7282/products_qanda_item09186a00800b0a20.shtml
