Automate testing of multiple PSTN DID numbers

Is there a free tool that would accept a range of PSTN DID numbers and test, automatically, if the DID number is responding with ringback or some other type of indicator that the DID is tied to a phone?

Trying to find an alternative to dialing each DID number manually.

You will find that when a telco gives you a range of contiguous DID numbers, chances that some of these don't work are infinitesimal, and you would be loosing time testing that.

I'd agree with Paolo, the chances of a problem are very small indeed, but if you do want to test these you could use a wardialer. I've not used it myself but there's a Skype based one on Sourceforge that might suit your purposes.
