Call Manager 4.2(3) OS Patches

I recently took over a CCM environment and need to bring it up to date with the latest security patches. I have been reading a lot of documentation but I haven't been able to find answers to questions below.

CCM 4.2(3)

OS Image 2000.4.4

OS Service Release 2000.4.6sr2

OS Upgrade 2000.4.6

Unity 4.2

Our CCM cluster is made up of 1 Pub and 2 subs, I want to apply the 2000.4.6sr9 OS release. I need to minimize downtime I was planning to install the patch on the Pub first reboot. Then move all the phones and gateways to Sub2, patch Sub1 then do the same thing for Sub2. Does anyone know if this is a supported patch method? I can't find any documentation on the installation order.

Now that CCM 4.2 and Unity 4.2 are end of life what is the supported method of applying the latest windows security patches, since they can't be downloaded from Cisco? I haven't been able to find any documentation on the supported methods any help would be appreciated.

Call manager does not need direct installation of windows updates,

also you can start the upgrade from pub,

for 2000.4.6sr9,
