Hi all,
Can I download call manager express through the cisco website? I have download access to everything and thought this was available for download for testing?

Yes you can. CME is built into the IOS, so depending on which version of CME you are looking for, just download the corresponding IOS version. CME 7.0 is the latest version, and is available in IOS version 12.4(20)T. Here is the version matrix:

Yes I have downloaded this, I thought I had just downloaded an update.
How do I go about installing it? their is no iso or anything similair.

If you have downloaded the IOS with voice feature set, the good news is there is nothing further to install. CME feature is in the code. Your next step is to configure CME on the router. For that, reference the configuration guide below:

I didn't realise this was installed on the router itself, I thought it was a cut down version of a server based call manager.

The CME gui is different from the CUCM gui. The two are very different applications whose similarity ends at their shared names.
