I have a CM cluster currently on 7.1. There is a planned upgrade to 9.1 soon. There is also a need to move the cluster from one node of the MPLS network to another but that requires an IP address change. My plan was to shut the Subscriber down, move it to the new location, change the IP address, move it, bring it up and have the DHCP option 150 changed to list the Publisher and the IP address of the subscriber in the new location. The shut the Pub down, move it and bring it up and change it to the new IP address.
I would definitely change the IP address prior to upgrade, just to avoid the hassle of getting a new license file. Once you upgrade and get into a VM environment, you will have virtual MACs, that change whenever you change the IP Address, NTP and a few other variables.
