Simon Sparks

ROUTER: Cisco 2811 ISR

IOS: c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.151-4.m5.bin

CME: 8.6

FLASH: 256MB

DRAM: 768MB

MODULES:

AIM-VPN/SSL-2 - "Virtual Private Network (VPN) Module on Slot 0"

VIC2-4FXO - "2nd generation four port FXO voice interface daughtercard on Slot 0 SubSlot 0"

PVDM2-16 - "PVDMII DSP SIMM with one DSP on Slot 0 SubSlot 4"

PVDM2-16 - "PVDMII DSP SIMM with one DSP on Slot 0 SubSlot 5"

I have made a cable to connect the FXO port to the standard BT phone socket RJ11 to BT Plug.

Using page B-6 in this PDF: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/1700/1751/hardware/installation/guide/Cables.pdf

RJ11 - Pin 1 - No Connection

RJ11 - Pin 2 - No Connection

RJ11 - Pin 3 - Ring

RJ11 - Pin 4 - Tip

RJ11 - Pin 5 - No Connection

RJ11 - Pin 6 - No Connection

BT Plug Pin - 1 - No Connection

BT Plug Pin - 2 - Tip

BT Plug Pin - 3 - No Connection

BT Plug Pin - 4 - No Connection

BT Plug Pin - 5 - Ring

BT Plug Pin - 6 - No Connection

RJ11 - Pin 3 - Ring - Pin 5 - BT Plug

RJ11 - Pin 4 - Tip - Pin 2 - BT Plug

I can recieve inbound calls from the PSTN and I can make outbound calls to the PSTN however when I call my land line from my mobile I am unable to recieve the caller id and show it on my Cisco 9971 IP Video Phones (SIP).

The error message I get from the debugging is: get_fxo_caller_id:Caller ID receive failed.

I have attached the relevant configuration sections, I believe there is more configuration than I actually need, as I am new to voice but not new to cisco, if there are un-needed configuration lines please let me know so I can remove them, any help would be greatly appreciated:

Thanks in Advance,

Simon Sparks

Have you verified clid working using a BT phone ?

Caller ID works fine on a standard BT Phone with an LCD Display

Try caller-id ring 2 or 3, etc.

Do you mean ?

caller-id alerting ring 2

caller-id alerting ring 3

Simon,

For BT lines use

!

voice-port 0/0/0

trunk-group POTS

input gain -6

cptone GB

timing sup-disconnect 85

connection plar 117

impedance complex3

station-id name Land Line

station-id number +44152439203

caller-id enable

caller-id alerting dsp-pre-allocate

!

Does the FXO port need wiring direct to the incoming line or does it need to be pluggedin to a BT Master NTE faceplate ?

Simon,

Your cable is correct

BT-PLG 2 ----- RJ11 -4

BT-PLUG-5 ----RJ11-3

Always use the Master socket faceplate.
