Callmanager groups for MGCP Gateways

I need help understanding why in callmanager I have callmanager groups for an mgcp gateway. This has always confused me because in the gateway I tell the router which callmanager to register to with mgcp call-agent command and I also tell the router who my redundant callmanager is. So if I decide on the router why do I have the option for callmanager groups. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Callmanager groups for MGCP Gateways

Im gonna take a poke at this one...someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyhow, I think this is the case, because you generally configure the mgcp gateway in call manager first, and then in the gateway itself, if you have the statement "ccm-manager config-server x.x.x.x" it then pulls the mgcp configuration from the call manager to the gateway, henceforth entering the mgcp call-agent and ccm-manager redundant-host statements for you. If someone else can confirm this that would be great!!

Hi friends,

To those friends who wants to read about MGCP, here a pair of good documents:

Re: Callmanager groups for MGCP Gateways

Hi Jason,

It will need a CallManager Group because in the TCP Port Settings of the server are specified the MGCP Listen Port and MGCP Keep-alive Port.
