Can I send a number to an Cisco IP phone 7940 over IP

Hi all,

I'm trying to sort out if I could send a number to for my phone to call over IP.  The idea is to simple take a number from my PC and by sending it over IP it'll start calling that number on my phone.

Any thoughts?
