Can we get CUCM 8.6 software alone

Can we get CUCM 8.6 software alone and install in any equivalent server HP or IBM [ 7816 or 7825 ]? and request for license ?

Yes, of course CME supports redundancy.

Moreover, it is inherently more robust than CUCM:

  • Simpler, smaller, easier software
  • Embedded in resilient router HW and SW - no need for host OS
  • No hard disk that can fail

For example, you can restore a CME configuration to a replacement router in about 10 minutes.

Yes.

Thanks, so CUCM 8.6 will support HP or IBM  - third party server with min 4 GB RAM and 160 HDD, license we need to buy only for users alone [ no need for node license ].

From what I know there is no difference in licensing, either you buy OEM server or Cisco re-badged.

Why there should be.

If you want to save money, a lot, use CME not CUCM.

For redundant solution CME - is good design ?

CUCM itself is a redundant solution considering it's clustering architecture. May be you can elaborate what exactly you meant by saying CME as redundant solution to CUCM ? If you want to deploy CME at remote site while keeping the CUCM cluster at central site, yes such deployment is very documented in the SRND guide as one of the standard deployment type. Lemme know if you want me to point you at the exact link.

Single site less than 450 users, customer needs redundant solution to avoid failure.

For single site can we provide 2 - CME and in DHCP can provide option 150 cme1 cme2 as redundant solution, it is best design or please help me with best cost effective solution for 500 users. Business edtion 3000 is not avaliable in Middle east ?

For CME redundancy options, refer the CME SRND Guide. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/srnd/design/guide/multcme.html
