CCM 6.1- calling name display question

Hello,

We are running into a situation where external calling name is not displayed on our phones. The trunk type is ISDN NI-2.

Example-

Caller X's external landline number is 519-555-1234 with name display “CALLER X”.

Caller X called me through the CCM, my IP phone displays ' Unknown, 519-555-1234' instead of 'Caller X, 519-555-1234'.

However we have another CCM with DMS-100 and the external calling name is showing on the IP phone.

Does anyone have any idea? Would this relate to the IE used betweent he NI-2 and DMS100 types?

Thank you for any insight you may have.

Hi!

With NI-2 the facility IE part of the ISDN setup packet is used for sending this name info. On the other hand, for DMS,

the display IE field is used instead. Ask your Telco where they are sending the calling name info.

You can get a debug isdn q931 and verify the caller id is received. Sometimes this can be a TELCO issue too.

Try changing the ISDN Switch type on the gateway configuration to Primary-NI. Primary-NI supports NI and NI2.

HTH

Teresa.
