CCM Backup for different versions

I have a 3.3.4 CCM and going to have it replaced for a new server with 4.2.3 version.

I want some ideas to get a backup of the configuration and CDR data from the old server, so I could pass it somehow to the new one.

I heard the BARS works with same version servers.

What is the best option I could have for this?

Re: CCM Backup for different versions

For an upgrade and replacement of the server to a new box, do the following.

a. Take a BARS backup of existing system. Store it in a external drive or network share.

b. Install CCM 3.3.4 using original discs on the new server. Name and IP of server should match the existing server. Put this server in an isolated network. (Switch).

c. Restore 3.3.4 database on the new server that you took in step a.

d. Attempt upgrade to 4.2(3)on new server.

e. Replace old server with new server in the production network.

For step d. you may have to upgrade to 3.3.5 or 4.0, 4.1 before upgrading to 4.2
