Changing Music On Hold

Using CM 6.1.3 on an HP7835. Marketing would like to change the stock MOH to a customized .wav file.

We know the new MOH .wav has to be recorded as 8 Khz, 8 Bit, Mono, CCIT u-Law.

What are the issues with changing from Cisco's standard MOH to another .wav file? Any guidence on what to do or what not to do will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: Changing Music On Hold

None, usually we leave it as it's 100% guaranteed it will work if your configuration is fine. If it sounds fine and a new MOH not, then the issue is the new MOH file.

Besides, with other 49 sources you can configure (+1 external), it doesn't hurt to leave it just in case.

If you have MOH issues most likely TAC will tell you to test with the sample MOH.

Re: Changing Music On Hold

The biggest problem I find is converting the audio files into the correct format for use by CUCM

I use Switch Audio File Convertor from NCH which makes this fairly painless. There is an eval available on their web site.

The other issue that you may run into is the Performing Rights Society demanding royalties for the music. To avoid this make sure you use something royalty free as they can be persistent beggars!
