Changing Route List "batting order"

I am cutting over to fatter pipe for my SIP PSTN trunking services which will require a downtime.

During the downtime for the voice gateway (which will hopefully be very short!) I would

like to have users at site A make calls via the voice gateway at site B.  And I want

to do this without powering down/disconnecting the voice gateway for site A.

The way I was considering was to make site B's voice gateway top of the route

list for site A.  It is currently in the second slot.  If I did this would I have to

reboot the phones or take other action to affect the change in routing preference?

Alternatively I could go to the site A route group and replace the Site A voice

gateway with Site B gateway.  Or just add Site B gateway and make it top of

the list.

Would one method be better (ie least effort, least intrusive) than the other?

I normally never touch the route lists and groups but need to plan for the

moment to moment change process for the cut-over.  Thank you.

Re: Changing Route List "batting order"

Hi,

Your 1st option looks good

Promote the B gateway to be the 1st choice.

Save and reset list if you are asked too.

Outage will be about 1-3 seconds and will only affect new outbound calls
