Changing user locale on 7941

Hi all.

I've this strange problem:

we have approximately 500 cisco ip phones, registered on our CCM 6.1.2.1000-13

all phones using a user locale ITALIAN configuration, and all work well

this configuration come from old CCM4.1 configuration, imported when we have upgraded CCM

now we are trying to install new phones, 7941 types, we configure them with same parameters as other phones (Device Pool, Common Device Configuration, User Locale, Network Locale), and reset and restart them, but they remain with US English locale configuration

I don't understand where I'm in error.

Thanks for any help

Daniele

Hi Daniele,

Generally, one of the "Post Upgrade" tasks when doing an upgrade like this would be to install the new "non-English" Locales. You will need the CUCM 6.1.X Version like the one below :)

From Support> Software Downloads> Voice and Unified Communications > Cisco Unified Communications Manager Version 6.1 > Unified Communications Manager/CallManager Locale Installer > 6.1(3.1100-1)

cm-locale-it_IT-6.1.3.1100-1.cop.sgn

Release Date: 23/Feb/2009

Cisco Unified Communications Locale Installer 6.1.3.1100-1 Italian (Italy) for Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.1

Size: 41084.84 KB (42070871 bytes)

This upgrade is done via OS Admin>Software Upgrades

Software Upgrades

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can use the Software Upgrades options to perform the following types of installations and upgrades:

•Install/Upgrade-Use this option to upgrade the application software, install Cisco Unified Communications Manager **Locale Installers and dial plans, and upload and install device packs, phone firmware loads, and other COP files.

•TFTP File Management-Use this option to upload various device files for use by the phones to the TFTP server. The TFTP server files that you can upload include custom phone rings, callback tones, and phone backgrounds.

When using Cisco Unified CallManager Release 5.0 or later

For Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0, you must do all software installations and upgrades by using the Software Upgrades menu options. The system can upload and process only software that Cisco Systems approved. You cannot install or use third-party or Windows-based software applications that you may have been using with a previous version of Cisco Unified CallManager with Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0.

Using your web browser, login to the Cisco IPT Platform Administration web page

Under the Software Upgrades menu, select Install/Upgrade.

Fill in the appropriate values in the Software Location section for the file you downloaded above, and click Next.

In the Available Software drop-down box, select the file you downloaded above, and click Next.

After validating the MD5 has the correct value, click Next.

In the Warning box, verify you have selected the correct firmware, then click Install.

Check that you received a Success message.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot Rob.

I think that this can be the problem.

I've downloaded cm-locale from CCO.

But I can't upload it to CCM...

When I go to software upgrades --> install/upgrade it appear a javacript error

if I try same operation into publisher ccm I can upload file...

Ok, it was CCM stalled... We have restarted it, followed Rob instructions, and now all work properly, user localization also!

Thanks a lot.

Daniele

Hi Daniele,

Nice work! Thanks for posting back with your results. +5 points for this kind (but often overlooked) gesture.

Cheers!
