HI,

I am having a Cisco 2811 with below card:

=======

Router#sh inventory

NAME: "2811 chassis", DESCR: "2811 chassis"

PID: CISCO2811         , VID: V04 , SN: FHK1104F2QR

NAME: "VWIC2-2MFT-G703  - 2-Port RJ-48 Multiflex Trunk - G.703 on Slot 0 SubSlot 0", DESCR: "VWIC2-2MFT-G703  - 2-Port RJ-48 Multiflex Trunk - G.703"

PID: VWIC2-2MFT-G703   , VID: V01 , SN: FOC110511PR

=======

I try to configure it enable voice capability but I get below message:

Router(config)#controller E1 0/0/0

Router(config-controller)#pri-group timeslots 1-31

% Not enough DSP resources available to configure pri-group on controller E1 0/0/0

% The remaining dsp resources are enough for 0 time slots.

% For current codec complexity, 2 extra dsp(s) are required to create this voice port.

Router(config-controller)#

Please advise.

CT

Hi CT,

please refer this discussion

regds,

I check below:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps274/product_data_sheet09186a0080091b9c_ps259_Products_Data_Sheet.html

It said:

"

APPLICATIONS

Packet Voice Solutions: PBX and CO Connectivity

The Multiflex VWICs supply private branch exchange (PBX) and public switched telephone network (PSTN) connectivity for the NM-HDV, NM-HDV-2VE, or NM-HDV2 via digital T1/E1 ports. The NM-HDV, NM-HDV-2VE, and NM-HDV2 support industry standard H.323 based VoIP, industry standards FRF.11 and FRF.12 based VoFR, and AAL5 based VoATM.

Please note that for each of these packet voice applications (VoIP, VoFR, or VoATM), an appropriate WAN interface card is also required.

It seems I need another NM. so, the card can support Voice or have enough DSP.

Is it ?

Hi CT,

You can refer the Q and A of PVDM module whihc can answer your queries.It has a DSP calulator as well.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps3115/ps6024/prod_qas0900aecd8016c6ad_ps3115_Products_Q_and_A_Item.html

regds,

aman

So, It look like I need to PVDM (similar to RAM) to connect in PVDM slot in Cisco 2811. Then, the router will have enough DSP and will be able to support the config above. and I also don't need another Network Module too.

Am i correct ?

Hi CT,

that is correct,accordingly u can do the sizing.

You can have maximum of two PVDM modules on motherboard of 2811 router.

Hi Aman,

I am still concerning about this information from data sheet:

=================

APPLICATIONS

Packet Voice Solutions: PBX and CO Connectivity

The Multiflex VWICs supply private branch exchange (PBX) and public switched telephone network (PSTN) connectivity for the NM-HDV, NM-HDV-2VE, or NM-HDV2 via digital T1/E1 ports. It seems like VWIC2-2MFT-G703 (E1 card) can only be used with those NM if we need to use it for voice.

Can you advise further ?

Regards,

CT

HI CT,

I wrongly took G.703 as T1/E1.you need to use NMs.

you can refer the link

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2/12_2z/12_2zj/feature/guide/gthwecan.html

I would still suggest speak to Cisco SE /AM for clarity.
