Cisco 6921 phone won't power up.

We have a Cisco 6921 that works with WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V (WS-C4503-E).

However, when connecting to WS-X6148-GE-TX with a WS-F6K-VPWR-GE it's not coming up.

It works with 7962 but not 6921.

Is there any compatibility issue with the 6921?

Thanks

Not working:

Hi Bedevere,

The 6921 has different PoE requirements;

Table 3. Power Requirements

Power Requirement

Description

IEEE 802.3af PoE

The phones can receive power from IEEE 802.3af-compliant blades.

Local power

The  phones can also be powered locally with a power adapter  (CP-PWR-CUBE-3=) along with one of the power cords listed in Table 4.

And we see here that your blade does not supply IEEE 802.3af;

Cheers!

I noticed on the 4503, the static config looks to show more power you can assign:

Could that be the issue?

FYI, I tried setting the max of 7000 on the port and it still didn't come up.

Not sure why.

(config-if)#power inline static max ?

  <4000-15400>  milli-watts

On the 6506 I see less:

(config-if)#power inline static max ?

  <4000-7000>  milli-watts

On the working switch:

I do see that this phone doesn't really take that much power.

#show powe inline
