Hello,

we are migrating from CUCM 4.1 to CUCM 8.6.2a

The firmware on board the 7912 is CP79020101SCCP030326A while after migration he must have CP7902080002SCCP060817A.

There is an intermediate firmware ?
I didn't find nothing on Cisco site.

Thank you in advance
Marco

Does not seem like that version is listed on CCO anymore, the closest I found is 3.3.3, which is

CP79020101SCCP030610A

For all available firmwares and their readmes see here:

Hi Marco,

Chris is spot on here (as usual! +5) the phones are

currently running 3-3-6

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7902g/firmware/3_3_6/english/release/notes/rn02_121.html

If you want to try upgrading just a single test phone as a first step see the attached doc

Cheers!

You will need to review the release notes for the final firmware to see what is the upgrade path from it.

Chris

You are right Chris but i didn't find that release note !

Here is readme, which you can locate by going to the download page for the phone firmware:

http://www.cisco.com/web/software/Voice/html/cmterm-7902G-sccp.8-0-2-Readme.html

HTH,

Chris

Thank you Chris.

Reading the release note it seems version 8.0.2 ( CP7902080002SCCP060817A ) is compatible with CUCM 4.X and CUCM 8.6.2a

Now next step is passing from CP79020101SCCP030326A to CP7902080002SCCP060817A but I dont find which intermediate firmware use it...

Yeah, I don't see that documented, I would try going straight to the latest and if that does not work try picking an intermediate version, or you can open a TAC case or PDI ticket for someone to investigate.

Chris

Ok Chris,

I think it's the only solution.

Can you just tell me this firmware CP79020101SCCP030326A which version is it?

Thank you again

Marco

I think version 3.0...

Does not seem like that version is listed on CCO anymore, the closest I found is 3.3.3, which is

So Chris and Rob are you suggesting to me to upgrade to an intermediate firmware ?

Hi Marco,

If you have a test/spare 7902 I would try upgrading just 1 individual

phone to the new 8.x firmware to see if it works If it fails you could try

a 6.x version, if it fails try 5.x. You shouldn't do any damage to the 7902

by trying this. You will also be able to gauge the length of time it

takes so you know for the remainder of the sets that need to upgrade.

It's a great plan to upgrade the phone firmware ahead of the CUCM upgrade

so this seems like a reasonable plan.

There's no real way to tell from any documentation as there are no 7902

Firmware release notes beyond 3.x (at least that I could find).

Cheers!

Rob
