Cisco 7920 connectivity problems unregistering every so hour

Hi!

I have succesfully installed this cisco 7920 wifi phone, but for some reason sometimes the call is not terminated correctly meaning that phone doesnt ring at all, but the other user hears a ring tone, and then shows missed calls? there is no problem making outbound calls, no call drops or anything like that. The problem is receiving calls sometimes the call will be terminated correctly

and sometimes the call is not terminated correctly, i have included the logs

Hi,

Which FW on the phone? Can you upgrade to the latest and try again?

Re: Cisco 7920 connectivity problems unregistering every so hour

Hi Paolo,

The FW is cmterm_7920.4.0-03-01, and I have also check the event viewer and this is error that i get

:Explanation: A device that has previously registered with cisco callmanager has unregistered. This event may be issued as part of normal unregistration event or due to some other reason such as loss of "keepalives"

Now this cisco 7920 is connected to a switch using trunk mode, the weird thing is that the voice lan is 10.0.0.9 and the data lan is 192.168.12.10, all other cisco devices have a 10.0.0.XXX ip address but the cisco 7920 have an ip belonging to the data lan 192.168.12.XXX, but the phone works great for moments although like it losses connection so may be the event viewer is right about the keepalives, but how can i modify this issue or can i check something else?

thank you again for your time

Re: Cisco 7920 connectivity problems unregistering every so hour

Hi Charlotte,

the FW is latest and the fact that the phone uses the "wrong" vlan should not be the root cause.

I would try monitoring the access point to see if there is loss of wi-fi connectivity right before the phone looses kepalives and deregister.

Re: Cisco 7920 connectivity problems unregistering every so hour

Make sure your ip helper address for the voice vlan is pointed to the dhcp server that servers the voice vlan.

I also have device unregistered errors on my 7920 phone. I have worked with TAC to extens out the keepalives for a remote site which brought my 7920s down to once to three times per day. I run WPA/TKIP+PSK on the APs (1100 series with key rotation. I am going to try and turn off the rotation on my voice vlan.

I also have the voice QoS optios checked, but no true per vlan QoS policy which will come next via TACs assistance.

I now have 4 sites running multiple 7920s in a mix of CCM and CME. I will keep you posted.

Re: Cisco 7920 connectivity problems unregistering every so hour

Do you see the phone disassociating the AP immediately before unregistering ?

Do you see the above NOT happening at night when the phone is stored close to the AP ?

Positive answers to the above questions would indicate a problem in the area of wi-fi connectivity.

Re: Cisco 7920 connectivity problems unregistering every so hour

Not sure,

but it could be that the users are moving around the office and there might be areas with no coverage.

I will check if this is happening.

Good day
