Cisco CUBE to Call Manager Sip Trunk

Running into an issue sending an inbound SIP PSTN call from the CUBE to the Call Manager, have setup per provider docs but the call is failing with a  SIP/2.0 404 Not Found, not sure if it cannot find the SIP trunk to Call Manager or if its a config issue....   See config and results below:

Cisco CUBE to Call Manager Sip Trunk

Matt,

Youare getting this error "

Warning: 399 srvuccm2sub2 "Unable to find a device handler for the request received on port 57131 from 10.47.69.6" because the ip address of the sip trunk in CUCM either doesnt match this (IP:10.47.69.6) or the server you are sending the call to (cmg-dlfw.srvuccm2.uc.twtelecom.com) is not in the cucmgroup of the sip trunk..

Once you have corrected this, reset the trunk and test again

Make sure you have the correct CSS assigned to the sip trunk, and that the dialed number is routable in CUCM.

Cisco CUBE to Call Manager Sip Trunk

Hi,

From the logs it is clear that your call is not been routed over the sip trunk from cucm.  The outbound leg of the call to cucm us matcching dial-peer 104. This is a h323 dial-peer not a sip dial-peer...

Secondly you do not have sip to h323 and h323 to sip connections enabled in your config.

I am not sure if this is a mistake or not..If you already have a sip trunk configured to the gateway then you need to change the protocol on dial-peer 104 to have "session protocol sipv2" As Chris suggested ensure you also have the correct CSS on the sip trunk

dial-peer voice 104 voip

description PBX calls to extension

huntstop

destination-pattern 8.....

session target dns:cmg-dlfw.srvuccm2.uc.twtelecom.com

dtmf-relay rtp-nte

codec g711ulaw

Cisco CUBE to Call Manager Sip Trunk

Thanks for the response guys, I appreciate the info, after stairing at the configs for endless hours you don't notice everything!   I have added the session protocol sipv2 to my dial peers (should have been in there but obviously missed it).

Looks like I am now getting in the right direction, I have checked my CSS's and all is good there but the call is still being rejected with a SIP/2.0 503 Service Unavailable, I have gone back through my docs and config and haven't found the magic piece to the puzzle, any other thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Cisco CUBE to Call Manager Sip Trunk

Changing my SIP trunk in Call Manager to 10.47.69.6 did fix it, this is my first trunk experience to an OSPF VG, I added each IP on the CUBE to the sip trunk and we're good to go...

Thanks so much!!

You are getting 404 not found

You are getting 404 not found. You need to check the CSS on your sip trunk in CUCM and ensure that it has access to the pattern you are trying to send the call to 27312741380..

Does this number exist in your cucm? What partition is it in? Does the CSS of the sip trunk has access to this partition?

Hi Ayodeji,Im sorry to barge

Hi Ayodeji,

Im sorry to barge into this discussion with a different issue.

I have a similar setup CUCM----CUBE---TRUNK-----SP. Everything works fine but my problem is that whenever i make a call from my cisco endpoints (mostly cisco 7942G ), I immediately hear a ringback even without ringing on the called party. Although this is not a problem but it gives false information to my users. Ive tried disabling early offer on 180 but no luck.

In summary, what i want to achieve is get ringback, disconnect messages from the called device and not some virtual ringing.

Thanks in advance

 Its difficult to say where

Its difficult to say where the ring back is coming from without looking at logs etc.

By default, Cisco Unified Communications Manager  will signal the calling phone to play local ringback if SDP is not  received in the 180 or 183 response. If SDP is included in the 180 or  183 response, instead of playing ringback locally, Cisco Unified  Communications Manager will connect media, and the calling phone will  play whatever the called device is sending (such as ringback or busy  signal)

Hi Deji,

Thanks for the response, dont know how i missed the alert in my email.

Can you tell me which log i should post? I have this service tested satisfactorily, the only thing holding it from being rolled out to my users is the ringback issue.

Thanks in advance.

Ideally a "debug ccsip

Ideally a "debug ccsip messages" should be good enough. Just include the calling and called number

Hi,In general, ringing is

Hi,

In general, ringing is controlled via two Informational Responses in SIP: the 180
Ringing and the 183 Session Progress.

The main difference between them, is the 180 Ringing message instructs the UA to create the dial-tone locally, whereas the 183 Session Progress contains an SDP, which allows for regional ring-back and carrier announcements as well.

In the logs, you sent your provider is sending both session progress and ringing, which is a little odd...normally after 183 session progress we move to 200 OK. However there is a ringing after 183 session progress.

I suggest you contact your provider and let them know that this is not acceptable. You can do an inbound test, ie call from outside to an ip phone on cucm and you shouldnt see this behaviour. The logs should show only either 183 session progress or 180 ringing.

Hi Deji,

Thanks for the response. I however still have this issue. I didnt come back because the project was suspended, but I've been instructed to cut over to this circuit and this issue is still pressing.

I contacted the provider, quoting your statement above but they maintained that their end is good since it issue does not appear on clients network.

The only difference between the other clients and my network, is they that they use plain SIP PBX while I use CUCM with Voice Gateway.

Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

I am not sure there is any

I am not sure there is any other thing to say other than what I have already said. Your provider need to send either 183 session progress or 180 ringing, but not both. Go back to them and tell their end is not okay. Show them the logs.

I completely agree with Deji

I completely agree with Deji , ITSP should not send both 183 and 180 on a single call.

Just to try a workaround can you do these changes and let me know the behavior.

1. Enable 100rel on outbound dial-peer towards CUCM.

dial-peer voice XXX voip

voice-class sip rel1xx require 100rel

2. Go to SIP profile of CUCM sip trunk and enable 100rel.

SIP Rel1XX Options

Send PRACK if 1XX contains SDP

And do not disable early media from sip profile and also from CUBE while testing with these changes.

Let me know.

Thanks so much Deji and

Thanks so much Deji and Manish. Following your lead, i found this link on Cisco's site

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/unified-communications/unified-communications-manager-callmanager/116009-ip-phone-fall-tfn-product-tech-note-00.html.

I only implemented you suggestion on the SIP profile of the CUCM and voila.....I can hear the ringback message.

Manish (+5)I am curious to

Manish (+5)

I am curious to know why you suggested using PRACK and how it resolved this issue

Please rate all useful posts "The essence of christianity is not the enthronement but the obliteration of self --William Barclay"

PRACK was exchanged between

PRACK was exchanged between ITSP and CUBE but not between CUBE and CUCM  , so my sole purpose to enable 100rel in that call leg is to extend media flow till call manager which i think was remain terminated till CUBE's ITSP interface by the absence of PRACK in CUBE to CUCM call leg.

Something which can be verified by enabling packet capture at CUBE interface and looking at the media packets.

I would love to see if ITSP still sends 183 and 180 on a single call.
