Cisco ip phone 7940

One of my ip phone activate the speaker phone by itself. I can place call and receive but when I am not using the phone after a while the speaker button green up and you hear the dial tone. I reset the phone many times and factory reset it. Any idea how to fix this?

I would suggest a packet capture to see who initiates the off-hook event. It's possible that a CTI event or XML SDK command triggered it and a packet capture would show this. If the phone is sending the off-hook to CUCM without any triggering event then it's a hardware failure.

Is this happening to one phone or all the phones?

Could be the mechanical spring at the base of the button is already worn off.
