Cisco ISR 3800

I am reall comfortable recommending Cisco 3800 ISR routers for my client, but would 3845 be ideal choice when it comes to deploy 24 to 30 FXO lines. Having only 4 HWVIC slots, I can fit (4)VIC2 (4)FXO cards that gives me maximum of 16 FXO ports. The only option I have to go with (2) 3845 dedicated routers supporting 24 FXO lines.

Any Suggestions

Re: Cisco ISR 3800

The 3845 has 4 NMs, so you can expend it further with NM-HDV cards hosting the FXO VICs.

By the way, anytime you need more than 12-14 lines it is less expensive to get a PRI instead of individual lines. So, I'm not sure why you need this many FXOs, but maybe it would be more feasible option.

Re: Cisco ISR 3800

Would be possible to use 4 of these?

I do agree, 1 or 2 PRIs would make a lot more sense in most cases.

Re: Cisco ISR 3800

Nevermind...I see those require NME slots and the 3800s only have 2 of those (and the 2821 and 2851 have just one).

It would be nice if they listed on ISR model comparisons.

3845 has 4 NM slots, 3825 has 2.

Re: Cisco ISR 3800

Correct, but the catch in this case is the 3845 can only handle 2 EVM-HDs at a time:

However, the comparison sheet says you can do 36 FXO ports on models 2821+

Re: Cisco ISR 3800

I have heard that HD-NM has not as stable as HWVIC card for Voice services. That is why I use HWVIC most of the time.
