Cisco Phone Doesn't boot

Hello Everyone,

I have a Cisco IP phone (7942) which doesn't boot, it doesn't even get an IP address from the DHCP server, it looks like it's dead, just the speaker button light is on. Now I want to connect to it through the console cable, I have created the console cable, but I cannot connect to it.

Kindly consider these:

1- There is nothing wrong with the DHCP server or the network.

2- The port on the switch is up and functional.

3- I have tested the console cable with other phones, but I am only able to get the information but I cannot send commands to it, but for this faulty phone am not even able to see the logs.

4- I have tried the hard reset procedures, it didn't work.

Basically, all the steps I have come up with, I have tried, but none of them did work.

my question is that anyone has ever solved this before?

note: One of my colleagues did fix the similar issue we had with some other phones, but I don't want to ask him the steps, now I want a hint from you guys. how to change the configuration of the phones through console cable, and second, why the faulty phone is not showing anything when i connect to it through console?

Your help is highly appreciated.

You need to upgrade the firmware of the switch.  TDR isn't supported in EX range.

I suspect there is a faulty cable but without TDR you'll need to find alternative methods to verify all four pairs are working.  I am suspecting that Pair A could be faulty. The problem is where is the fault:  Near the switch or the far end.

I don't think the cable has an issue, because my Cisco Phone is connected to this cable, and I connected the faulty phone to the cable of my phone. My own phone is currently working without any issue.
