CM5.0 using extenal USB tape drive

Has anyone tried configuring the external USB tape drive on MCS7835H2 appliance server?

I have tried connecting the tape drive to 1 of 4 built-in USB port on the server. The server is not able to detect my tape drive. Any idea??

Hi,

Normally we need to install drivers for this tape drives, but in the case of CM5.0 it will be installed along with the CCM installation.

For me I have tried connecting to one of the USB ports in the back as well as in the front side. Bot worked fine and I was able to do the backup.

You need to check in the "Platform Administration" >"backup" section. There you can check in the destination drive for this tape drive.

Thanks Manu. I managed to install the external tape drive now. I just puzzled why in the MCS7835-H2 data sheet mentioned that we need to use the (DAT-USB-ADPT) PCI-USB adapter for the external tape drive.
