Hello.
We have a Cisco C1861-SRST-C-B/K9 with IOS c1861-advipservicesk9-mz.124-22.YB5.bin (CME 7.1).
We have a BRI attached on it and we would like to make video calls through PSTN (i.e., to make and receive video calls to a mobile phone by a Cisco IP Communicator and a Cisco Unified Video Advantage).
Is the hardware/software capable of video calls through PSTN? If yes, what is the simplest IOS configuration to achieve this?
Thanks and regards.

We support video calls over a BRI/PRI via an h320 gateway, but it needs to be h323 on the VoIP leg for this to work. If you have an h323 video endpoint, we can do h.320 out the PSTN leg. You can see some details on this here:
There is also some information in the 'Gateways for Video Telephony' section of the CUCM SRND.
I don't know of any way to get VTA to work over the POTS circuit, since that's a SCCP endpoint. You'll likely need to look at the IPVC or MCU to accomplish something like this, but I've never personally seen one of those integrated with CME.

Dear Mr. Holl,
in the CallManager SRND, the use of a gatekeeper is nominated.
So, is it impossible to have video over ISDN only with a CallManager and a router used as a voicegateway (with a VIC2-2BRI onboard)?
Thanks and regards.

The 1861 is also not on the supported list of platforms that support video over ISDN feature.

You'll need to upgrade to one of the supported platforms to support video over isdn.

Dear Mr. Garrido,
thanks for your answer.
If I substitute the 1861 with a 28XX (provided of a VIC2-2BRI, and a PVDM), and I use the router as a CME, is this hardware suitable to have video over ISDN, then?
Can you provide me a working configuration example?
Thanks again and regards.

I think that 1861 or 2801 should work the same for H.320, because they run the same softwarem, and basically the same hardware.

1861 is not a supported platform for h320 GW.
You would need a 28xx/38xx or 29xx/39xx.
Please see following doc for details on this feature which covers
config details as well as a sample example:

Hope this helps.
