CME Failover

CME failover

What would be the best way to implement failover in a standalone cme system.

My thoughts so far are :

Identical router minus the modules but with the same config

In the event of failure of the primary router

Remove modules and install in standby router

Present fxo lines and E1 lines to standby router

or

Identical hardware running hsrp

In the event of failure of the primary router

Present lines into hot standby router

Caveats no voicemail ?

Looking for the best solution with minimal downtime

Anybody running any similar sort of implementation ?

Thanks

Re: CME Failover

Hi Mark,

HSRP will not help because phone need to register to the address specified under "telephony-services", not HSRP address.

Now CME also supports redundancy, that is indicated in the lastest feature guides, and that is what you would need to use.

Hope this helps, please rate all useful posts

Re: CME Failover

That is not right you can do HSRP with CME for redundancy. You will have to have CUE in each router and config changes will be manual. telephony service will point to the virtual IP address
