I need a fresh set of eyes to take a look at my configuration as I have neem fighting this all day to no success.
Here is my hardware design:
Internet, PC, printing etc works great. Even my iPad gets a DHCP address from the DHCP server via a wifi router not shown.
The problem is that I cannot get an IP phone to get and keep an IP address and register with CME with one exception. I have a 7960 the seem to be holding an old configuration setup and when I connect it on the network, I can make and receive calls from that one phone. It says it is using DHCP but the IP address stays even when I power off the phone and power it back on, Also, that IP is not listed in the DHCP bindings on the DHCP server. One setting it does have is an active call manager IP address of 10.110.0.1. For whatever reason this phone works so that tells me that my system is working and configured mostly correct.
But, when I connect another IP phone to the same switchport it never registers wih CME. In fact, it gets an IP address from the DHCP server (verified by the show bindings command. I even cleared all bindings and a new one comes in for this phone. But when I check the phone itself, ther is no IP address information (sometimes it is there for a few seconds). The phone is set to DHCP=YES and I hae even tried two other phones. Same issue.
When I connect a PC to the sane switchport, it gets an IP address in the voice vlan and keeps it.
I have tried to manually set the IP address on the phone and it still never registers in CME.
Wil someone plase take a look at my config files for the DHCP, CME, and 3550 switches and tell me where I screwed this up. It did work a while back.
Thank You!
Michael

Could you try by changing the data vlan on your switchports to 69 and your voice vlan 110? Also, could you try moving the DHCP server from the switch to the router that is doing Layer 3 routing for testing purposes?

I placed hte data back into vlan 69, no improvement.
Not quite sure what you want me to do with the DHCP. Right now the DHCP server is its own 2620 router. Do you want me to put the DHCP on the CME router instead? or on the 3550 switch that the phones are connected to?

I would try on the CME router.

Moved the DHCP server for the 110 Vlan to the CME router and changed all ip helper-address' to 10.110.0.1. Same problem.

Michael,
What port on the switch are you plugging the phone in? Could you remove the port-security commands and try again? Also make sure switchport access vlan and switchport voice vlan commands have the correct vlans.

Hi Michael,
You can try by taking "debug ip udp packets & debug ip dhcp events" in your dhcp server and on CME router "debug ephone detail". Please share it

I re-configured the system back to match the attached config files, the phone's DHCP server back to the DHCP Server router and reset all ip helper-address' to 172.16.2.1

I ran debug ip dhcp server events on the switch that the phone is connected to and received the following output:
1d02h: DHCPD: Forwarding reply on numbered intf
1d02h: DHCPD: Forwarding reply on numbered intf
1d02h: DHCPD: Sending notification of ASSIGNMENT:
1d02h: DHCPD: address 10.110.0.25 mask 255.255.255.0
1d02h: DHCPD: htype 1 chaddr 000a.41f9.84af
1d02h: DHCPD: remote id 020a00000a6e00030e000000
1d02h: DHCPD: lease time remaining (secs) = 43200
1d02h: DHCPD: giaddr = 10.110.0.3
1d02h: DHCPD: interface = Vlan110
Heere is something interesting, I grabbed a phone that has never been on my system and still the same. Then I moved the DHCP server to the Server switch and still nothing. But when i moved the DHCP server to the Office switch, the new phone came right up and worked.
Then I moved the DHCP server back to the Server switch and reset the phone and now the phone will not come up no matter what I do. I do have the phone(s) set to DHCP=Yes and I have tried erasing the configuration on te phone. Nothing works. I am so stumped because DHCP works for everything but IP phones.
Should I post a question in a different section of the support forum?

To me it seems like the phone can't get to the DHCP server when the DHCP server is on the office switch. Can you make sure that your voice vlan can get to the DHCP server? Make sure your trunks are allowed to let the voice vlan through.
Also, I saw the IP DHCP SERVER 4.2.2.2 , somewhere. Please remove that.

This does not seem to be a DHCP issue after all. There was no IP DHCP SERVER 4.2.2.2 config anywhere, 4.2.2.2 is the dns-server config.
Here is what I found thus far:
I created a TFTP server on my PC and set the phone to ALT TFTP Server to the PC's IP addrss and the phone boots up full but does not have the button assignments as that tftp server does not have all of the files.
I have gone back and checked the files on the CME router that the TFTP server should have for the phone to boot up and it does.
tftp-server flash:P00308000800.sbn
tftp-server flash:P00308000800.loads
tftp-server flash:P00308000800.txt
tftp-server flash:P00308000800.sb2
tftp-server flash:SEP0013191f4980.cnf.xml
And yes they are being serverd, I downloaded a file from the CME server to my PC using a tftp client on the PC.
But, I still can't get this to work correctly. ugggg!!!!!
