Co-residency of 3rd party virtual servers (ARC etc) on UCSC-C220-M3S

Hi,

I've tried to read through the Cisco docs on whether it's permitted to run 3rd party apps such as ARC, Call Logging server etc on the UCSC-C220-M3S hardware platform.

CUCM and CUC have already virtualised on this platform (v8.6x) and we'd like to install a couple of windows servers on the same hardware.

My initial conclusion from reading through the docs and the links associated with them is that it is permitted but I'm finding it really confusing.

I don't want to be the fall guy if I agree to install the 3rd party apps and then at a later date we find we have no TAC support because of this.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Here are a few of the docs I've looked through:

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_Communications_Virtualization_Sizing_Guidelines#Special_Rules_for_non-UC_and_3rd-party_Co-residency

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6884/products_tech_note09186a0080bbd913.shtml

Regards,

Mark

Mark,

It all depends on what else you have installed on the server, if it is only CUCM 8.6 then it is definitely supported to co-reside 3rd party apps.

The link you listed:

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_Communications_Virtualization_Sizing_Guidelines#General_Rules_for_Co-residency_and_Physical.2FVirtual_Hardware_Sizing

provides explanation between the Limited, UC on UCS Only, Full co-residency models, and there is a table listing each application and its co-redifdency policy, i.e. if you click on CUCM you get:

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Virtualization_for_Cisco_Unified_Communications_Manager_(CUCM)

which for version 8.6 tells you that FULL co-residency is supported. You need to look at it from the perspective of all applications installed on the server.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

The only Cisco appliances that are installed on the hardware is CUCM & CUC both at version 8.6(2).

The CUC link also lists version 8.6x as FULL so I will advise the customer that additional Windows servers can be deployed on the hardware for ARC and call logging.

Mark

Yup, you are good to go. Obviously you still need to ensure you do not over-subscribe the CPU, RAM and storage with additional VMs.

HTH,

Chris
