Conference with analog phones at CME using SCCP

Alan Couto

Level 1

Hello people,

I am trying to configure my CCME router (2901 with one PVDM3-256) to make hardware conference calls. I tried yesterday software based and it is working great. But as soon as I press the flash button to integrate the fourth participant I receive a busy tone. And after check a little bit, I realised that we can make a hardware conference to add more than 3 participants, using the dsp resources. First I am trying using Ad-hoc config.. But after I will try algo meet me conference.

I tried to configure using some configuration guide but until now I am still trying :/

Can someone help? See my attached show run and conference config.

Many thanks,

Alan.

Hi,

Your ephone-template is not configured correctly for meet-me conferencing..

Use this link to configure correctly..

e.g

ephone-template 1

softkeys hold Join Newcall Resume Select

softkeys idle Cfwdall ConfList Dnd Join Newcall Pickup Redial RmLstC

softkeys seized Endcall Redial Meetme Cfwdall Pickup Enable MeetMe softkey in seized/offhook state

softkeys connected ConfList Confrn Endcall Hold Join Park RmLstC Select Trnsfer

Hi Alan,

Analog phones can only support 3 party conferencing. Look below in the highlighted section.

SCCP: Configuring Multi-Party Ad Hoc Conferencing and Meet-Me Numbers

To configure extension numbers for hardware-based multi-party ad hoc and meet-me ad hoc conferencing, based on the maximum number of conference participants you configure, perform the following steps. Ad hoc conferences require four extensions per conference, regardless of how many extensions are actually used by the conference parties.

Note Ensure that you configure enough directory numbers to accommodate the anticipated number of conferences. The maximum number of parties in a multi-party ad hoc conference on an IP phone is eight; the maximum on an analog phone is three.

Man, excellent!! Your document was very very usefull..

Now the meetme conference is working 100%. But the ad-hoc almost done. Now I can make an ad-hoc hardware conference but I can only include 3 participants. When I press the flash button to call the third participante, I dont receive the dial-tone. What do you think it can be?

Many thanks,

Alan

I mean fourth participant

Do you mean the conference button? You should use the conference button to join participants

Please rate all useful posts

No. Actually I am using only analog phones. So when I want to make ad-hoc conference I have to press the flash button to receive dial tone and then dial the third person. After the third person answer, I press again the flash button and press #3. With that, the 3 participants are now in conference.

My doubt is when I want to add the 4th participant. Is possible to add more than 3 people at ad-hoc mode?

Many thanks,

I think that this part below answer my doubt.

Restrictions

The maximum number of meet-me conference parties is 32 for one DSP using the G.711 codec and 16 for the G.729 codec.

A participant cannot join more than one conference at the same time.

Hardware-based multi-party ad hoc conferencing for more than three parties is not supported on phones that do not support soft keys.

Hardware-based multi-party ad hoc conferencing for more than three parties is not supported on Cisco Unified IP phones running SIP.

Hardware-based multi-party ad hoc conferencing does not support the local-consult transfer method (transfer-system local-consultcommand).
