Hi,
I have CUCM 7.x in HO and SRST in branches. The communication between the sites is via G.729. Centralized call processing model is used. When we try to conference between sites it does not happen. We are not using any hardware conference bridges at the moement. Is it compulsory to have an hardware conference bridge like PVDM resource !!!!! Can not the CUCM handle this on G.729?
Or is this any other issue?
regards,
Nouman

Nouman,
Yes, it is required to use hardware conference resources in this scenario. The software-based media resources on CUCM cannot transcode from one codec to another. They can only handle G.711.

Hi
Thanks for the response.
Can you let me know for the above scenario if i have PVDM2-8 installed in my router, how many G.729 conference calls can i have between the sites?
Also my remote sites can use the PVDM of the central site?

Nouman,
You would be able to host 1 conference with a PVDM2-8. Yes, your remote sites can access this conference.

Bill
