Configuring ATA 186 to work with 02 Lines

Hi Guys,

I need configure the ATA to work with 02 fax equipments. I know that is possible to do, but, I have doubt: The line 0 and line 1 will work with G.711 or Line 0 will work G.711 and Line 1 will work G.729. I remember that it's necessary change the MAC address or included zero the start and retired number in the finish, It's right?

Thanks,

Wilson

No, only one port at time optionally supports g.729 that you would not use anyway for fax.

Hi Wilson,

The second port of an ATA only supports g.711 This is what usually throws a wrench into the thought process here;

Have a look at these two good posts that relate to this type of issue;

Yes. You need to change mac address for the 2nd line.

If you have a choice, use an FXS port in the router for fax. ATA are often source of trouble with fax.
