Converting CP-6961 to sip without callmanager

I would like to convert my CP-6961 IP phone to sip, but cannot find the configuration file anywhere for it. I do not have Callmanager. I have downloaded the firmware files from cisco, but they do not help as when I try to load them from the TFTP server, it needs a configuration files, "XMLDefault.cnf.xml", "SEPE05FB91FBF77.cnf.xml", and "CTLSEPE05FB91FBF77.tlv".

 

Does anyone know anything about this? It's driving me crazy. Thank you.

Thank you so much Leo.

This is exactly what I needed to get this setup.

One thing to note for people reading this that have downloaded the firmware from cisco, the syntax  for the "<loadInformation60 model=”IP Phone 6961">SIP.9-4-1-3</loadInformation60>"  part, would be SIP69xx.9-4-1-3. That's all.

Would you also happen to know how to get it to register with a sip username and password. for the life of me, I can't figure out where to go to input the name and password for the sip setup. Every other device I've setup on my phone server had a clear indication of where to put the UN/PW.

Hello everybody,

I want to do the same but I think I'm not used to this topic.

I have got the files and I think I uploaded them on a TFTP Server but the phone

does not downloading anything.

It simply starts after connectiong it via PoE.

On the TFTP Server are the 4 firmware-update files and the two files mentioned above. The SEP-file is correct named (MAC).

1. Can I expect an action by the phone if the file is uploaded on the tftp server, or must the content of the file be corret?

2. I didn't modify the content of the files above, I think I have to do this, right? Is there an explenation or discription, what I have to put in which line?

I have two ideas. First, the tftp is not online. That's why the phone does not downloading anything.

The second idea is that the content of the "XMLDefault.cnf.xml" or  the "SEP[MAC].cnf.xml is not corret.

Can somebody please help me with that?

By he way, do I need the "XMLDefault.cnf.xml" AND the "SEP[MAC].cnf.xml" file or just one of them?

EDIT:

I run a router with DHCP, the phone got an IP and a Client (Laptop) works (or not) as TFTP Server. Client and Phone are connected via a cisco unmanaged switch.

Now I'm sure the tftp server is running.

And I guess the phone tries to update. The console logs show some activity.

Roland,

I recommend quitting trying to set this up. I've spent the last two years trying to set this up off and on. I would periodically become obsessed with trying to get it to work, nearly destroying my relationship at the time. I'm a communications analyst, working primarily with Cisco phones and equipment and I still can't set it up. I'll look into this when I get home and try to help the best I can though. I wish you the best in your endeavors.

ERR [TFTP] tftpSend:492: Error code 1: File not found

The entire log is riddled with this, "File not found".  This means the phone is attempting to locate some files in the default TFTP folder but can't find them.

Yes, but I think I did everything what you and Christopher wrote.

But I did not realy addapt the xlm files to my enviroment because I do not realy understand the content.

But "file not found" seems not to deal with the content of the files.

Can I somehow look into the phone? To understand where and what the phone is looking for?

Everything is unique.  

What might work for Christopher may not work for you.  Particularly when this thread is old.  My recommendation is create a new thread.   Otherwise, things will get very confusing quickly.
