CUCM 6.1 use of MGCP and SIP (parallel)

Hello,

I have a CUCM6.1 which control a ISR2821(PSTN-GW with PRI) per MGCP.

All works fine.

Now I want to implement SIP parallel to MGCP so that I could call over traditional pstn and over SIP-Provider(Internet).

Is this possible?

Do I need further hardware?

you can still use the router has SIP or H323 while MGCP is working.  But remember, your SIP provider may require you to use a username and password and if you want to do this with SIP, you may want to get a CUBE router for this job.  It will hide your CUCM from the outside world, etc.  There is a list of pros on why should do this within the forums taken out from Ask the Expert session
