CUCM 7.1.5 MOH using Live Radio

Hi,

I have been asked to look at setting up a customers MOH for there internal radio station. Are there any Documents that detail the process for this?

My Understanding is that you would need to:

  • Setup a seperate server/PC to run the live feed and then multicast this out on the LAN environment
  • Setup a MOH server in CUCM that details the above device ?

or

  • Setup a Fixed MOH Audio source and use a Cisco approved USB device?

Are there any details on how a USB devise can stream the Live Radio?

I am sure there is a solution but i have not yet found one.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

HI

Arrange a Male-Male Stereo Audio Cable, like the one below
for E.g. :

http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=3690059&JRSour
ce=nsa&nsa=1

** This cable is not shipped with the sound card as it could
be specific to the Audio Device (E.g. I-Pod) **

2. Connect one end of this cable to the Audio device (E.g.
I-Pod) that you would use to supply Audio/Music to the CM

3. The other end of the cable should be connected to the
'Line In' (Printed Mic) on the MOH-USB-AUDIO

Yes it should work.

Hi

For CUCM 6.x/7.x, the component MOH-USB-AUDIO= is required for audio
sources.

The Cisco MoH USB audio sound card (MOH-USB-AUDIO=) must be used for
connecting a fixed or live audio source to the MoH server. This USB sound
card is compatible with all MCS platforms supporting Cisco Unified CM 6.x
and later releases.

Below you can check the procedures to install physically and configure the
fixed audio source:

Installing the Cisco USB MOH Adaptor
Use the following procedure to install the Cisco USB MOH adaptor and to
configure the fixed MOH audio source.

Procedure
1. Plug the adaptor USB cable into a USB port on the back of the MOH server.
2. Connect an audio source to the adaptor MIC connection by using a patch
cable with a mini-plug. Use the MIC connector that is labeled on the
adaptor.
3. If the LED on the adaptor is not lit red, press the REC button on the MOH
USB adaptor.

Connect MOH-USB to usb port on back of MCS server. From CLI (open a SSH
connection to the server with PUTTY) do a show tech system and confirm the
USB Audio Adapter appears on Bus 2:

Example:
Hardware: USB bus devices summary
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0d8c:000c C-Media Electronics, Inc. Audio Adapter

The MOH-USB-AUDIO should be blinking if it is streaming instead of a solid
red light but if you can not hear the audio off the MOH USB Headphone jack
it is possible the adapter was just reinstalled.

Fixed Music On Hold Audio Source Configuration

.html#wp1095813

The music on hold server supports one fixed-device stream source in addition
to the file stream sources. This source represents the fixed audio source,
which gets configured in the Fixed Music On Hold (MOH) Audio Source
Configuration window. The fixed audio source gets sourced from a fixed
device that uses the local computer audio driver.

For each cluster, you may define one fixed audio source. You must set up the
fixed audio source that is configured per cluster on each MOH server. To do
so, use the Cisco USB MOH sound adapter, which must be ordered separately.
Configuring the Fixed Music On Hold (MOH) Audio Source

1.- Choose Media Resources > Fixed MOH Audio Source. The Fixed MOH Audio
Source Configuration window displays.
2.- To configure and enable a fixed music on hold (MOH) audio source. Fixed
Music On Hold (MOH) Audio Source Configuration Settings Source ID - This
field displays the stream number for this fixed MOH audio source. Name -
Enter a unique name in this field for the fixed MOH audio source. This name
can comprise up to 50 characters. Valid characters include letters, numbers,
spaces, dashes, dots (periods), and underscores. Enable (If checked, Name is
required.) - To enable this fixed MOH audio source, check this check box.
Allow Multicasting - To specify that this fixed MOH audio source allows
multicasting, check this check box.
3.- Click Save. The Fixed MOH Audio Source Configuration window displays an
Update Successful status message.

Hi Ronak,

Many thanks for your in depth reply.

So, In Short,  once the MOH-USB-AUDIO is installed on all 3 server in our cluster we will need to connect that MOH-USB-AUDIO MIC connection into the output of any type of Audio device locally, (even a radio itself?) and then work through the config for a Fixed Audio source and Test?

Thanks
