CUCM 7.x and Cisco VG communication problems

I have a CUCM 7.x cluster and a Cisco VG. From time to time my VG loses MGCP registration and people can't dial out. I have traced the mgcp packets on the VG and CUCM cluster.

I can see that VG is still sending NTFY messages and receiving Acknowledgement 200 from the CUCM cluster. Even though my Packets recvd counter is not increasing. When I check the registration status on CUCM (Device-> Gateway) the gateway port is registered.

Can you help? I have attached the logs file from CUCM and VG.

CUCM:       192.168.2.2

VG:            192.168.1.1

IP phone:    192.168.1.2

In the file attached to your first post you can see the SCCP conference resources on the voice gateway and an IP phone in the same subnet unregistering at the same time that MGCP fails.

This seems to indicate a general IP connectivity problem rather than an issue specifically with MGCP - hope this helps

Use H.323, that is easier, more robust and more feature rich than MGCP.

You are right. It seems to be a problem with a WAN circuit. Thanks a lot.

How your CUCM and VG are connected? Is it over the WAN or LAN? Try to check network status (Link flaps) during issue. It will be helpful if you can provide output of ping (1000 counts) from VG to CUCM during the issue.
